   Chill an old-fashioned glass and cut two or three thin coin-sized slices of fresh ginger.

   Place the ginger in a shaker and muddle firmly enough to release juice without grinding it into fibers.

   Add the blended Scotch, fresh lemon juice, and honey syrup, reserving the single malt for the float.

   Fill with ice and shake hard for 10–12 seconds until the drink is thoroughly chilled.

   Fine-strain over fresh ice in the chilled glass, then slowly float the single malt across the surface using the back of a spoon.

   Garnish with candied ginger slices and serve without stirring the aromatic float into the drink.
