   Chill a rocks glass, prepare fresh clear ice, and select one small thyme sprig plus one small basil sprig.

   Place the basil leaves in a shaker and muddle gently just enough to release their oils.

   Add the reposado tequila, elderflower liqueur, rich syrup, lime juice, and solid ice.

   Shake hard for 10–15 seconds until very cold, then fine-strain over fresh ice in the rocks glass.

   Check that the ice sits neatly and that no muddled basil fragments passed into the drink.

   Arrange exactly one compact thyme sprig and one compact basil sprig together at the rim, then serve.
