Garnish: One tiny fan of three thin apple slices

   Chill a Nick and Nora glass and cut three paper-thin green apple slices for one tiny restrained fan.

   Measure the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, apple eau-de-vie, Douglas fir eau-de-vie, and demerara syrup into a mixing glass.

   Add one dash of aromatic bitters, fill the mixing glass with solid ice, and ready a bar spoon.

   Stir smoothly for 20 to 25 seconds until the drink is very cold and properly diluted.

   Strain the clear pale-amber drink into the chilled Nick and Nora glass without ice fragments.

   Set the single tiny three-slice apple fan at the rim and serve without any additional garnish.
