   Chill the coupe thoroughly, prepare the One short orange twist, and ready the mixing equipment.

   Measure sweet vermouth, gin, aromatic bitters, orange accurately and add them to a clean mixing glass.

   Fill the mixing glass with solid ice cubes and place a bar spoon against the inside wall.

   Pre-chill a coupe, combine the sweet vermouth, gin, and one measured dash of aromatic bitters in a mixing glass with solid ice, stir for 20–25 seconds until very cold and properly diluted, fine-strain into the chilled glass, express one short strip of orange zest over the surface, and retain it neatly at the rim as the only garnish.

   Strain into the chilled coupe, keeping the finished drink clear of ice fragments.

   Finish with One short orange twist and serve immediately.
