   Pre-chill a clear heavy rocks glass, prepare one large clear ice cube, and cut exactly one very short narrow lemon zest twist.

   Measure the cachaça, Calvados or straight applejack, Bénédictine-style liqueur, demerara syrup, and Creole bitters into a mixing glass.

   Fill the mixing glass with solid cold ice and place a bar spoon against the inner wall.

   Stir smoothly for 20–25 seconds until the apple-and-cane-spirit mixture is very cold and properly diluted.

   Strain into the chilled rocks glass over the single large cube without transferring small ice fragments.
