Three-ingredient cocktails: choose your starting recipe

Short answer

Kokto’s Margarita, Daiquiri, Negroni, Moscow Mule and Cuba Libre each list three required ingredient records. Optional garnishes and ice are not included in that count. Choose by your bottles and tools: the Margarita and Daiquiri are shaken, Negroni is stirred, and the Mule and Cuba Libre are built.

Exactly three required catalog ingredient records per recipe; optional garnish records and preparation ice are excluded. Compound products such as triple sec or ginger beer count as one purchased ingredient, not one constituent. These are five worked examples, not an exhaustive or popularity-ranked list.

Match the recipe to your bottles

Start with tequila and triple sec for a Margarita, white rum for a Daiquiri, gin with red bitter aperitif and sweet vermouth for a Negroni, vodka with ginger beer for a Mule, or aged rum with cola for a Cuba Libre. The four recipes other than Negroni also use lime juice. Check the image-backed recipe cards below for the exact required ingredients and quantities.

Three ingredients is not the same as three bottles

The Daiquiri uses white rum, lime juice and white sugar. Its preparation includes dissolving the sugar before adding ice. A Margarita uses two bottled alcoholic ingredients plus lime juice. Count fresh ingredients and sweeteners as well as spirits when checking what you need; a three-ingredient headline should not hide a shopping requirement.

Choose your method before you start

The built Mule and Cuba Libre can be prepared in the serving glass. The stirred Negroni uses a mixing glass and is strained over fresh ice. The Margarita and Daiquiri need their shaking and straining steps. A short ingredient list does not tell you how many tools you need or whether preparation can be skipped.

Compare taste without treating scores as ratings

Each full Kokto recipe shows sweetness, sourness, bitterness, strength and freshness on a five-axis profile. Use it to compare the styles described by the catalog, not as a customer-review score or laboratory measurement. Strength is not a calculated alcohol percentage. The best starting choice is the recipe whose ingredients, method and flavor fit what you want to make.

Quick answers

Do ice and garnishes count as ingredients here?

The selection counts required ingredient records in Kokto’s catalog. Preparation ice and optional garnish records are excluded from the three, but the full recipe still tells you when they are needed or optional.

Does a three-ingredient cocktail mean an equal-parts cocktail?

No. Kokto’s Negroni uses equal 30 ml measures, while its Margarita uses 50 ml tequila, 25 ml triple sec and 25 ml lime juice. Ingredient count and mixing ratio are different things.

Can I replace one ingredient and keep the same recipe?

Not automatically. Replacing a spirit, liqueur, juice or sweetener can change the balance. Follow the linked specification; this selection does not establish substitution ratios.
