   Chill a slender highball glass, prepare fine dry crushed ice, and select one compact mint sprig.

   Measure the gin, falernum, pineapple juice, and fresh lemon juice into a shaker; keep the IPA separate.

   Add three solid ice cubes and short-shake for about five seconds to chill the still ingredients.

   Strain into the chilled highball and pack the glass neatly with fresh crushed ice.

   Top slowly with the chilled IPA to form only a restrained head; never shake the carbonated beer.

   Place only the compact mint sprig at the rim and serve immediately while the drink is lively.
