   Chill the highball thoroughly, confirm that no garnish is required, and ready the shaker.

   Measure gin, peach, lemon juice, simple syrup, soda water accurately and add them to a clean cocktail shaker.

   Fill the shaker about three-quarters full with solid ice cubes and seal it firmly.

   Chill a highball, peel and finely crush half of a ripe peach in a shaker, add the gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and solid ice, shake hard for 10–15 seconds, double-strain into the chilled glass over fresh clear cubed ice, top slowly with cold soda water, stir once gently, and serve without garnish or straw.

   Fine-strain into the chilled highball so no small ice fragments reach the drink.

   Serve immediately without a garnish while the drink is at its best.
