   Pre-chill one clear coupe, cut one very short orange zest twist, and ready a fine grater with whole nutmeg.

   Measure the cognac, Irish whiskey, cognac-based orange liqueur, and herbal liqueur into a mixing glass.

   Fill the mixing glass with solid cold ice and place a bar spoon against the inside wall.

   Stir smoothly for 20–25 seconds until the deep amber mixture is very cold and properly diluted.

   Fine-strain into the chilled coupe, express the compact orange twist, and retain it at the rim.

   Add one restrained central dusting of freshly grated nutmeg and serve without another garnish.
