   Chill the coupe thoroughly, confirm that no garnish is required, and ready the mixing equipment.

   Measure gin, dry vermouth, sweet vermouth, aromatic bitters accurately and add them to a clean mixing glass.

   Fill the mixing glass with solid ice cubes and place a bar spoon against the inside wall.

   Pre-chill a coupe, combine the gin, dry vermouth, sweet vermouth, and one restrained dash of aromatic bitters in a mixing glass filled with solid ice, stir steadily for 20–25 seconds until very cold and properly diluted, fine-strain into the chilled coupe, verify the clear surface is still, and serve without garnish.

   Strain into the chilled coupe, keeping the finished drink clear of ice fragments.

   Serve immediately without a garnish while the drink is at its best.
