   Chill a coupe glass with ice or place it in the freezer while you measure the ingredients.

   Fill a shaker two-thirds full with fresh ice; this gives the drink enough dilution without making it watery.

   Add the vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, and freshly squeezed lime juice to the shaker.

   Seal and shake hard for 10–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and frosted.

   Discard the ice from the coupe, double-strain the drink into the chilled glass, and garnish with a lime wheel or twist.
