   Pre-chill one clear rocks glass, strip the leaves from one thyme sprig for muddling, and reserve one separate small sprig for garnish.

   Place the stripped thyme leaves in a shaker and muddle gently until aromatic without grinding them into a paste.

   Add 60 ml bourbon, 15 ml maple syrup, and 15 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice.

   Fill the shaker with solid cold ice, seal it, and shake hard for 10–12 seconds.

   Fine-strain into the chilled rocks glass over one large clear ice cube, express a narrow lemon-zest strip over the surface, and discard it.

   Place the single small fresh thyme sprig neatly at the rim and serve without visible citrus or another garnish.
