Garnish: One small mint sprig

   Chill a heavy rocks glass and prepare one very small mint sprig.

   Measure the bourbon, fernet, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup into a shaker.

   Fill with solid ice and seal the shaker securely.

   Shake hard for 12 to 15 seconds until very cold and properly diluted.

   Fine-strain into the chilled rocks glass over fresh pebble ice and level the ice below the rim.

   Clap the mint once, place only the compact sprig at the rim, and serve immediately.
