   Chill the coupe thoroughly, prepare the One short lemon twist, and ready the mixing equipment.

   Measure cognac, lemon juice, lemon accurately and add them to a clean mixing glass.

   Fill the mixing glass with solid ice cubes and place a bar spoon against the inside wall.

   Pre-chill a coupe. Combine Hennessy V.S cognac and the half-teaspoon portion of fresh lemon juice with solid ice, stir for 20–25 seconds until very cold, fine-strain into the chilled coupe, express one short lemon peel, and retain it as the only garnish.

   Strain into the chilled coupe, keeping the finished drink clear of ice fragments.
